Full Biography
It started with a small obsession to write the perfect song, with everything I would want in it. Of course as I grew older my opinion of a great song changed quite a bit. In the end, I found that the songs that were true to life had the most impact. Artists like Bob Dylan and a younger Neil Young began to shape my expectations and thoughts about songs. At the fragile age 18 you are bound to write about a few things. Love – lost, found and destroyed. This was to be my theme for my first release in 2009, whether I liked it or not.
Curious and not expecting much, I entered two of British Columbia’s biggest radio station contests. 100.5 The Peak’s Performance Project and 99.3 The Fox’s Vancouver Seeds. Some how I found myself in both contests. Top 10 in Vancouver Seeds and top 20 in the Peak Performance Project. Along the way it was like the whole Vancouver music industry opened up it’s arms. Soon I was rubbing shoulders with all the right people. I was invited to play at a stage at the famous Warped Tour and The 2010 Olympic Games. In the mist of all of this I met Mr. Todd Simko.
I invited Todd to a showcase I had in Vancouver and he liked the music. Todd was a music producer that had worked with artists like Xavier Rudd and The Organ. I liked these artists he worked with and I felt they were recorded tastefully. So I figured he was the right guy for the job.
We began demoing songs over some wine and decided it was best to record the album in his home. We recorded almost all the tracks live with myself and a acoustic guitar and sometimes Todd’s dog Elliot. The goal was to capture the magic in a performance and create recordings to stand the test of time. The album “The Wilderness” is set to be released in the summer of 2011.
